“The people in Second Life aren’t worth reaching”

NPR’s Marketplace had a spot about the shrinking economy of the virtual world, including analysis by Marketer Mark Hughes, who says:

The people in Second Life, they aren’t worth reaching. It’s just a weird place. It’s never gonna catch on. It’s a fad, not a fashion at all.

    I just listened as well. Gee, I’m hoping that the quote was taken out of context. It’s so dismissive as to be, not only insulting, but downright ignorant. I have to think better of Mark Hughes and hope he was taken out of context.
